Waste Collection
Packaging waste is an important part of the total solid waste. Packaging waste is renewable because it
contains glass, plastic, metal, paper and composites. The recycled packaging waste is returned to the production
line and used as secondary raw materials. The collection of packaging waste from the source, as in developed
countries, must be done properly, separated from garbage, in order to be returned to the recycling industry.
Our company uses piggy banks, interior bins and recycling bags in waste collecting from the source.
Packeging waste collected by separation processes at the source is brought to our collection and spereation plant.
Separation
Packaging waste, brought to Özkartallar Waste Collection and Sorting Plant in mixed form is sorted out into five
main groups as paper, glass, metal, plastic and composite. The packaging waste in these five groups are further
devided into subgroups. For example, the mixed plastic waste is sorted into 5 different types of materials as(PET,
PE, PP, PS, PVC) and then it is delivered to the recycling industry. Because all subgroup materials are subjected to a
different recycling technique.
Packaging waste brought to the sorting section is taken to the separation band by means of a loading band. There
are personnel on both sides of the band to execute the separation of these materials. Personnel in charge of
separation do the sorting according to the type of packaging waste and place them in the compartments at the
bottom of the band. Separated packaging waste accumulated in these compartments are sent to the pressing unit.
Pressed materials are stacked and stored to be shipped later to the relevant recycling facilities.
Recycling
Waste paper prepared in bales at the Özkartal packaging waste collection and sorting plant loaded onto trucks with
forklifts to be shipped to the licensed recycling facilities.
Paper transported by conveyor belts are converted into dough in the pools called cellulose pulp by mixing with
chemical materials. This is done at a specific temperature. Also, foreign substances coming with paper are removed
in this pool.
Paper made into paste is run through strains and sand traps for separation from small-scale foreign materials.
Paper pulp with high water content is subjected to a washing process to rid from ink and similar materials. Pulp
separated from all impurities is also dried to reduce liquid rate. New layers are adhered on the dried pulp by means
of rollers to achieve the desired product. The final version of the paper is delivered to the slaughterhouse wrapped
large pulleys. Final paper produced from waste paper is stocked to be used by packaging factories and printing
houses.
